November 27, 2018 at 11-00 am, a press conference was organized at the National Press Center of Uzbekistan on the theme “Directions and prospects for the further development of objectivity and relevance of static data describing the course of reforms in the sectors and spheres of the national economy”.
At the press conference, it was noted that the Government of the country is taking drastic measures to ensure maximum openness and transparency of official statistical information for all categories of users. In turn, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics has developed and launched, starting from November 1, 2017, an improved new version of the official website www.stat.uz. In the new version of the site, an easy-to-use interface is used, to ensure the convenience of users, statistical information is provided in one section, analytical materials and press releases are published, all provided information is available in three languages (Uzbek, Russian and English).
A close and productive cooperation has been established with the mass media in regularly covering society about the socio-economic state of the country and regions, the results of the ongoing reforms in the form of infographics, diagrams, videos, articles, analytical materials, comparisons and other modern lighting techniques.
Moreover, the event reported that the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics had opened and actively used a page on the social networking site Facebook and a group in the Telegram messenger.
It was noted that the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics is actively working in cooperation with the UNECE, the IMF, Eurostat and other international organizations and statistical institutes to improve the methods and methodologies of statistical accounting and bring them into line with generally accepted international standards. In particular, improved statistical survey of small enterprises, micro-firms, dekhkan and farm enterprises expanded system of regular statistical surveys of informal activities in different sectors of the economy, has introduced a new methodology for calculating and monitoring the rate of inflation, based on the recommendations of the "System of National Accounts - 2008" improved methodology and methods of calculation.
One of the global challenges facing state statistical bodies is to place reliable and relevant statistical information about the country's socio-economic development in the information resources of foreign countries.
Also, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics, on a regular basis, carried out and widely reported in the media, seminars and "round tables" held in the leading economic institutions of higher education in the country.
Also, during the press conference, a statistical analysis of the progress and results of ongoing socio-economic reforms in the country in a 5-year dynamics is given.
