Today, November 5, a presentation was held at the Statistics Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the agency's staff regarding the results of a seminar held in Brussels, Belgium, on the use of alternative data sources and integration for calculating the Consumer Price Index.
We remind you that this seminar was organized from October 29 to 31 in Brussels by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), as well as Statistics Norway and the Federal Statistical Office of Switzerland.
At the presentation, Shakhnoza Ismailova, the head of the Consumer Price Statistics Department of the Statistics Agency, shared new knowledge and experiences gained during the seminar, including new methods of data collection in consumer price statistics, such as scanning, administrative data, and web scraping, as well as the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing these new techniques.
Additionally, group work was discussed, where seminar participants exchanged ideas and experiences on applying the acquired knowledge in practice, along with recommendations from international experts on gathering and managing new alternative data for price statistics.
During the meeting, comprehensive answers were provided to participants' questions, and an exchange of views on this topic took place.
