As emphasized during the event, the Statistics Agency developed this new compilation titled "Women and Men in Uzbekistan: Facts and Figures" as part of the tasks outlined in the 63rd point of the "Comprehensive Program of Measures for the Implementation of the Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality in the Republic of Uzbekistan by 2030" for 2024. This compilation includes extensive information on gender statistics.

The compilation presents essential data on the participation of women and men in various sectors, their socio-economic conditions, and issues of equality. The primary goal of the compilation is to provide specific indicators and analyses aimed at ensuring gender equality.

Representatives of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Cabinet of Ministers, and relevant ministries and departments participated in the event. It was noted that this compilation is useful not only for official organizations but also for the general public, as it is intended to transparently and openly demonstrate the state of gender equality.

This presented compilation includes data on women and men in areas such as demography, education, healthcare, social protection, labor, tourism, culture and sports, and crime.

Currently, serious efforts are underway in Uzbekistan to increase the share of women in public administration. For example, by the end of 2023, women accounted for 32% of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and 25% of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. Women made up 10.1% of law enforcement officers, and 14% of judges. Furthermore, the share of women holding ministerial positions (or equivalent) was 4.8% in 2023, rising to 7.7% as of April 1, 2024.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan has implemented 52 of the United Nations' minimum recommended gender indicators. The progress towards gender equality is assessed based on the UN’s gender indicators.

The Gender Equality Strategy, part of the “2030 Gender Equality Strategy,” and related indicators and analyses were also discussed. Information on 61 targeted indicators is regularly updated on the website gender.stat.uz.

For reference, according to the "Gender Data Compass" rating of the Open Data Watch organization, Uzbekistan ranked 56th out of 185 countries with a score of 37 points by the end of 2023, securing 3rd place in the Central Asian region.

The Statistics Agency maintains the website gender.stat.uz, where more than 180 gender statistics indicators are available in three languages and five different formats, and are regularly updated.

Uzbekistan's gender statistics include information on the participation of women and men in areas such as social, economic, education, and healthcare. Within the framework of the government's 2030 Gender Equality Strategy, goals have been set to improve women’s opportunities in the labor market, expand access to education, and enhance health conditions through gender statistics.
